The Yang-Tan Institute's research team is a multi-disciplinary group with backgrounds in backgrounds in rehabilitation, industrial and organizational psychology, labor economics, human and organizational learning, sociology, special education, rehabilitation psychology, rehabilitation counseling, special education, law, and applied statistics. We apply our collective expertise to disability topics broadly to inform businesses, members of the disability community, policy makers, advocates, federal and state agencies, and other stakeholders. Our research emphasizes sound theory, collaboration with stakeholders, usefulness of research results, and cuts across several domains. Beyond our portfolio of sponsored research initiatives, the Yang-Tan Institute also provides research consultation in both the public and private sector.

Employment and Disability Research

The Yang-Tan Institute team conducts research on issues related to disability and employment, including documenting long-term employment trends among the population with disabilities, examining the underlying factors that contribute to these trends, investigating best practices of employers, and assessing the influence of public policy.
