Feasibility Assessment: Partners in Policymaking in Spanish and Chinese

OVERVIEW

As a one-year project conducted in 2018, the Yang-Tan Institute will conduct a comprehensive feasibility study on creating a culturally competent and linguistically accessible Partners in Policymaking® (PIP) course for Spanish and Chinese speakers in New York State.

The study will allow for the creation of a plan to implement the PIP course in the Spanish and Chinese languages which is uniquely tailored to the needs, strengths, cultural perspectives and experiences of Spanish and Chinese speaking communities.

PROJECT ACTIVITIES

  • Conduct a self-assessment on the cultural and linguistic competence (CLC) of the Partners in Policymaking® (PIP) course to create a baseline for measuring progress and systems change in increasing PIP’s CLC.
  • Identify key stakeholders and seek their input on the feasibility for developing and piloting a PIP training for Spanish and Chinese speakers
  • Strengthen PIP’s internal capacity to deliver Spanish and Chinese versions of the course in a culturally and linguistically competent (CLC) way.
  • Developing a Plan of Action for implementing PIP in the Spanish and Chinese languages.
